NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Void where prohibited by law. The WestlawRewards Legal Fictionary "Sweepstakes" is offered only in the United States and Washington D.C. to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are 18 or older and have enrolled and begun (or, are scheduled to begin) a School-approved course of study as a full or part time first year student at an accredited law school in the United States prior to date of participation. Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 AM Central Time (CT), 8/17/08 and ends at 11:59 PM CT, 11/22/08 ("Sweepstakes Period"). Sponsor's computer is the official clock for the purposes of the Sweepstakes.

How To Participate. During the Sweepstakes Period, log on to lawschool.westlaw.com to view the word of the week. To enter, complete the online entry form and select a definition of the word of the week. Students may optionally submit a made-up definition for a following week's word. Students may enter once per week. For purposes of this sweepstakes, a "week" begins at 12:01 AM Central Time (CT) each Sunday and ends at 11:59 PM CT the following Saturday, per the schedule below. If a student selects the correct definition he or she will receive a promo code for 50 WestlawRewards Points. Promo codes will also be emailed and listed on www.westlawrewards.com/orientation/main/gamestats.aspx for the student after each correct definition has been submitted. Students who submit a made up definition that is used for a future week's word will receive an email notifying them that their made up definition was selected, and will be entitled to receive a promo code for 1,000 additional WestlawRewards Points. In addition, the student's first name and school will be posted by their submitted definition on the Correct/Incorrect Answer page. See below for information regarding claiming WestlawRewards Points. Limit: one entry per week and a maximum of 14 entries into the Grand Prize drawing. All entries must be received by 11:59 PM CT, 11/22/08. Any other attempted form of entry is prohibited. Neither West ("Sponsor") nor any of its agencies are responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, damaged or misdirected entries; lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server or other connections, miscommunications, computer hardware or software malfunctions or other technical failures of any kind, ISP/network/website accessibility or availability, garbled or jumbled transmissions or other errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical or electronic; including without limitation the incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information regardless of cause; Sponsor is also not responsible for incorrect or incomplete Sweepstakes information, whether due to electronic, mechanical or other errors, unauthorized access to the website or other cause. Use of robotic, automated, programmed or like means to enter the Sweepstakes multiple times in violation of the above-indicated entry limitation will void all entries affected by such methods. Sponsor reserves the right, to disqualify any individual it finds, in its sole discretion, to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or website; or who is in violation of the terms of use of the website as set forth in the Westlaw privacy policy. Additionally, Sponsor reserves the right to prosecute any fraudulent activities to the full extent of the law.

Drawing. The Weekly Prize Winners will be selected in 14 random drawings (with one drawing for each week of the Sweepstakes Period (8/17/08 – 11/22/08); each weekly drawing will be held on the Tuesday immediately following a given week of the Sweepstakes Period. Each weekly drawing will consist of all eligible entries received during the previous week. Non-winning entries will NOT be rolled over into subsequent weekly drawings. However, all eligible entries will be included in the final Grand Prize Drawing on 12/2/08. Gage Marketing Group, an independent judging organization, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to the Sweepstakes, will conduct the drawings. By participating, entrants agree to abide by and be bound by these official rules and the judges' decisions. Weekly Prize winners will be notified by email.

Any unspecified incidental expenses associated with acceptance and/or use of prize is winner’s sole responsibility. Except where prohibited by law, taxes on prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be assigned. No prize substitution, but Sponsor may, at its sole discretion, substitute cash or a prize of equal or greater value if advertised prize becomes unavailable for any reason. Limit one Weekly Prize per person. Odds of winning a prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

WestlawRewards Points Claims. If you receive a promo code for WestlawRewards Points you must be enrolled in WestlawRewards to claim your points. If your school has not yet issued Westlaw Passwords, or if for some other reason, you have not yet had the opportunity to enroll in WestlawRewards, please retain a copy of your promo code until you have the opportunity to do so. If already a WestlawRewards member, log on to www.westlawrewards.com, click on the "Promo Codes" page and enter the code exactly as it appears on the email in the space provided and hit submit. Once the Code is properly submitted, the points will be deposited in your account. If not a WestlawRewards member, but you do have a Westlaw Password, follow the instructions on lawschool.westlaw.com to register your Westlaw Password and opt in to WestlawRewards. Then follow the instructions provided with your promo code to claim your points. All WestlawRewards Point Promo Codes must be received by 11:59:59 PM CT on 5/31/09. Retain a copy of the promo code and website page printout stating the promo code information. WestlawRewards Points are redeemable for merchandise specified in the WestlawRewards online catalog. Usage of WestlawRewards Points is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the WestlawRewards Program, available at www.westlawrewards.com.

Eligibility. Employees, officers, directors of West, Gage Marketing Group, LLC, their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising/promotional agencies and the members of their immediate family (parents, siblings, children & spouse) regardless of where they live or those persons living in the same household of such employees/officers/directors, whether related or not, are ineligible. Westlaw Student Representatives are eligible.

Conditions of Participation. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify, or suspend the Sweepstakes should a virus, bug, unauthorized human intervention or other cause beyond the control of Sponsor, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness, or proper play of the Sweepstakes. In such event, winners for affected drawing(s) will be selected from among all eligible entries received (if any) for such affected drawing(s) prior to and/or after (as appropriate) the action taken by Sponsor. Notice of such action by Sponsor will be posted on westlawrewards.com

By participating, entrants release and agree to hold harmless West, a Thomson Reuters business, Gage Marketing Group, LLC, their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising/promotional agencies, and the employees, officers, directors, shareholders and agents of any of the above organizations from any and all liability for any injuries, losses or damages to person (including death) and/or property of any kind caused in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, by participation in the Sweepstakes or the acceptance, possession or use/misuse of prize or participation in any prize-related activities. Where legal, by accepting prize, winner agrees to the use of winner’s name and address (city, state), likeness, photograph and/or voice as well as any statements made by winner regarding the Sweepstakes or Sponsor (provided they are true) for advertising/publicity/trade purposes, including use on the lawschool.westlaw.com and/or westlawrewards.com website(s), without notice or further compensation.
